FLOW & FRAME
Flow & Frame is a poetry-film collaboration between T S Eliot prize-winning poet Philip Gross and filmmaker Wyn Mason. Rather than simply making a film to accompany a ready-made poem, or writing a poem to accompany a film, the work emerges from a process whereby the creative baton was constantly passed back and forth between both. The series of short films are all thematically linked; they were all filmed on the banks of the river Taff, each one contemplating the ancient Greek philosopher, Heraclitus’s famous saying about how no-one steps into the same river twice.

CONTINENTAL DRIFT
This is an ambitious, long-term international poetry-film project. We have devised a system where poetry-films are produced across Europe’s cultural and linguistic borders, as the project gets passed continuously between filmmakers and poets. A poet writes a poem and a filmmaker makes a film to accompany it. This film in turn is passed on mute to a poet in another country, for them to w write a poem to accompany the footage. Consequently, an unbroken chain of meaning is created across the continent.

The first film of the chain is Unwaith/Once (Film Agency Wales). Poem Elin ap Hywel. Director Wyn Mason. Actors Russell Gomer & Alys Tomos.
Unwaith
Unwaith
yn y tiroedd pell
yn yr oesau tywyll
roedd brenin
– brenhines hefyd –
hanai ef o lwyth y ceirw
hithau o lwyth y cesyg a’r geifr
roedd ei chorff yn wyn
fel stremp hir o laeth
yntau mor braff â chorn
priodwyd hwy yn saith mlwydd oed
byw hanner canrif yghyd, a magu
deuddeg o blant
